Following on from our enthralling coverage of the ear tug-of-war at the Eskimo Olympics earlier this week, I just wonder: why do some people feel the need to cause themselves extreme pain or discomfort to carry out incredible feats? I have no idea but they find it fun so here's our top five painful-looking stunts.
PULLING THINGS WITH YOUR EARS
Speaking of ear-trauma, what kind of man would be crazy enough to try pulling a bus with his ears?

The same kind of man who could also pull a PLANE with his ears, it seems. In this case, renowned strong-ear-man Manjit Singh. Look, he even has the same pulling face

STUFFING YOURSELF INTO THINGS

Ever popular as a feat, attempts to get large numbers of people into relatively small places have a long and noble history - for example, twenty-two college students from California who recreated a famous stuffing feat that their predecessors achieved 50 years ago - but must be quite painful for the participants. Especially when there's a gearstick involved...

EXPLODING BANANAS ON YOUR FACE

A strange one, this. Yes, even stranger than all the others. Probably the finest example we've seen of the little-known film genre, 'Man With His Face Covered In Bananas Which Have Firecrackers In Them Which Then Explode', it's the work of Brooklyn-based artist William Lamson. Exploding banana head man. You can see the video below!
WRAPPING YOURSELF IN STEEL WIRE

'Stunt Week' at the Cherry Blossom Festival in Guangzhou, China, was a cornucopia of bizarre and agonising-looking stunts - including this man attempting to snap steel wire using special breathing techniques. Ouchy. See our full, eye-watering gallery here.
PULLING THINGS WITH YOUR PENIS

Yes, that's right. As if pulling things with your ears or eyelids wasn't enough, this man had to go one further, and pull a bus along with his penis. The strong man in question, Jaja Stone, probably shouldn't pay quite so much attention to those spam emails about 'improving your length in the bedroom'.
